Messy Confessions: Video 2 – Homelessness

**TRIGGER WARNING** I discuss a period of time in this video where I was homeless. If you have been homeless and feel that this may cause you an issue to hear about, please avoid this video!

I do not discuss it in this video, but there was also a period of time where I was homeless in Los Angeles, CA. The LGBT Center in Hollywood, CA helped me when I was there. I moved back to San Francisco within a few months because it was a better place for me. I didn’t discuss it because of the shortness in time, in comparison to being homeless in San Francisco. I, however, have appreciated the LGBT center in Los Angeles ever since. Without them as well, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

Just to provide a link to some of the organizations I mentioned in the video:

Larkin Street Youth Services –

Cats (Community Assistance and Treatment Services) –

Music at the beginning of video is from and is entitled “Reader! Do you read?” by Chris Zabriskie.

I’ve said this before, and I will say it again. You are so BRAVE to be sharing these stories. I’ve never been homeless and I am so thankful for that, so I cannot emathize what you’ve been through, but I can say you are an inspiration to know that you have come so far in your life. Look at you now! Your educated, you have a house, a partner who loves you. It’s an honest to god inspiration. It just goes to show that you can make something of yourself and you can get to a better place, even if it doesn’t feel like it at the time. You really have shown me that there is a way for me to get back to school. I never completed my degree, and now you’ve really inspired me to go back to school. That’s my greatest aspiration for my future; to get a degree! Knowing you came from homelessness to getting your Associate’s and Bachelor’s and now getting your Master’s! That’s seriously so amazing, Cassie. If you can do it, I can do it. Thank you for sharing this video! ❤️

If you dream it, you can achieve it! Please do return to school and get your degree. I will definitely be in your corner, if you decide to do so. I had to learn to push through even when people tell you that you can’t achieve it. You can do amazing things through adversity. Thanks for watching!

Thank you for watching, Linda! I don’t feel brave, I just feel honest. I am glad though that others are appreciating me sharing these and understanding the purpose behind them.
